Hi there, thanks for your comments again. As I promised I’m going to talk about some basic rules of table tennis.
Table tennis can be played in singles(单打) and doubles(双打), and although games have traditionally （传统上 ）been up to 21 points, games up to 11 are now table tennis law and replacing up to 21（新规则以11分制代替21分制）。
In fact the new rules were introduced in 2004, requiring players to take it in turns（轮流） to hit two serves at a time, rather than the five serves required at previous competitions.
The first of the two players to score eleven points is declared to have won the game.（先得11分的一方为胜方）If the game reaches 10-10, then the service must change after each serve, instead of after two serves. And the player who is two points ahead wins the set. (10平后先多得2分的一方为胜方) The player who wins four games wins the match（单打的淘汰赛采用七局四胜制）。
Players must allow a ball played towards them only one bounce on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces 弹回on the opponent’s or opponents’ side （对手一方）. If the ball doesn’t land there, it is counted as a dead ball.
In the Olympics, a single elimination format （单淘汰制）is followed. In the singles matches, 16 top seeded players advance to a main draw while 48 others contest for a qualification round. A second group of 16 players advances from that round. Winners in the semi-finals play for the gold and silver medals while the losers play for the bronze medal. （竞赛方法采用分组预选和单淘汰加铜牌附加赛或排名淘汰赛加铜牌附加赛的方式。）
A similar format is used for all 32 teams that are involved.
The official rules for Olympic table tennis state that the competitors must wear socks at all times!
